Janet Jackson made a surprise appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show and that wasn’t the only shock she gave audiences! Jackson revealed that she turned down a very popular role in a comic book film. When she couldn’t remember the name of the film at first, Drew Barrymore questioned if it was The Matrix but Jackson replied, “It was…this is horrible. I can’t remember the film, but Halle Berry played Storm.”

They figured out that it was the X-Men film in 2000. At the time, Jackson was about to go on her Janet tour and couldn’t commit to a movie role. Berry ended up reprising the role of Storm in X2, X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Barrymore could relate to turning down a big role. She revealed, “It’s so hard when you, like, are thinking of doing a film and then you don’t end up doing it. I have so many of those experiences. I’ve never said this out loud, ‘Boogie Nights.’ There was a moment where we were talking about ‘Boogie Nights’ and I think it’s when I went and did ‘Ever After [A Cinderella Story]‘ and I went in a very different direction.” Barrymore did not reveal which part in the 1997 film she was considered for.

As the pair talked about movies, Jackson shared that she would be open to acting again. She hasn’t appeared in many shows or films in the past decade, with her most recent role being in the 2019 film Jack Boyz. She mainly focuses on her music and recently made a stop in Japan on her 2024 Together Again Tour.

Could you see Jackson as Storm or do you think Halle Berry was the superior choice for the superhero? Could you see Barrymore in Boogie Nights?
