Harrison Ford Reveals Who Inspired Him to Get His Ear Pierced
Did you ever notice that Harrison Ford has his ear pierced? If you think that is a little strange, perhaps you also didn’t realize that he got it pierced a bit later in life, in his 40s. Now, Ford is revealing who was the inspiration for his spontaneous ear piercing and it is actually so sweet.
During an event to honor the late Jimmy Buffett called Keep the Party Going: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett at the Hollywood Bowl on April 12, Ford shared a story about his friend. He said, “Jimmy Buffet was a cool guy. I remember one day that a long — some might say boozy — lunch with Jimmy and Ed Bradley, and it was Bradley’s birthday. I saw both of them had earrings. So right after lunch, I got my ear pierced. That’s just how infectious Jimmy’s coolness is.”

He continued, “Infectious enough for a 40-year-old man to spontaneously get his f—ing ear pierced. And infectious enough to create an entire culture around his music. There is no other way to say it: There will never be another like Jimmy.” He concluded, “He was kind. He was beloved by his family, by his friends, by his band, his crew and his collaborators, and he loved them all back.”
Remind The tribute event included performances from Jon Bon Jovi, Sheryl Crow, The Eagles, Paul McCartney and more plus speakers such as Woody Harrelson and Jane Fonda. They all spoke fondly of Buffett, whose music inspired his fans, called Parrotheads after many fans began wearing parrots and tropical clothing to his shows.

Buffett passed away on September 1, 2023, at the age of 75 from a type of skin cancer called Merkel cell carcinoma. The tribute event showed just how many people’s lives he touched and how his legacy will live on forever.
