There is One Thing That Could Get Michael J. Fox to Act Again
While Michael J. Fox seemingly retired from acting in 2020 due to his Parkinson’s disease, he isn’t certain that he will stay retired forever. Fox said that he decided to retire when his symptoms were interfering with his work. He appeared in two episodes of The Good Wife spin-off series The Good Fight in 2020 and struggled to remember his lines.
He revealed, “I thought of ‘Once Upon a Time In Hollywood.’ There’s a scene where Leonardo DiCaprio‘s character can’t remember his lines anymore. He goes back to his dressing room and he’s screaming at himself in the mirror. Just freaking insane. I had this moment where I was looking in the mirror and thought, ‘I cannot remember it anymore.'” Even though the situation is frustrating, he said he felt at peace with his decision to move away from acting.

These days, Fox mainly focuses on his family and foundation. He has been married to Tracy Pollan since 1988 and they have four children. He also founded the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which helps fund research for Parkinson’s disease. Fox was diagnosed when he was just 29 years old.

Now at 62, he joked that his 22-year-old ambitions were “obnoxious.” He added, “My goals are always shifting. My biggest goal, I think, was to raise a family. We have four amazing kids, and that’s been the big thing. And then the other is with the work we’ve done with the foundation and wanting to achieve those goals.”

However, Fox did say that if he was offered the right role, he would come out of retirement. He explained, “If someone offers me a part and I do it and I have a good time, great. I would do acting if something came up that I could put my realities into it, my challenges, if I could figure it out.” We are hoping something comes along that he just can’t pass up!
