Another fabulous former celebrity home is ready to be scooped up by a new owner. The home that Judy Garland purchased in 1938, the same year that she signed on to star in The Wizard of Oz, is now up for sale in Bel-Air for $11.5 million. It was built by architect Wallace Neff, who worked on homes for many celebrities including Charlie Chaplin. Garland lived in the home with her mother and sisters for several years, located in one of the most prestigious neighborhoods in California.

Over the years, the impressive home has been featured in magazines such as Architectural Digest. It has five bedrooms and six-and-a-half baths in its 5,513-square-foot space. While it has been modernized over the years, it still holds some 1930s charm including a curved staircase with iron railing. A gorgeous tree-framed entrance welcomes you into the home that holds several fireplaces, a sunroom, an extra-large chef’s kitchen, a dressing room, and much more.

The outdoor space is just as lovely with a beautiful landscape, a patio for entertaining, and an in-ground pool. There is also a small writer’s cottage in the backyard that would be perfect for a studio or guest house. Garland was just 16 years old when she purchased the home after signing with MGM. She soon became their biggest star after appearing in The Wizard of Oz, Meet Me in St. Louis, and more.

The estate was later reportedly rented by Quincy Jones and Marvin Gaye. The current owners purchased it for $6.7 million and did some extensive remodeling. The home is now being listed by Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles‘ Josh Flagg. It looks stunning! Could you see yourself living there?
