On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, Wild West TV — the newest 24/7 Free, Ad-Supported Streaming TV (FAST) channel from Shout! TV — will debut on The Roku Channel.

A release from Shout! TV describes Wild West TV as “a peek into the gritty history of the American West, showcasing the good, the bad and the ugly … with a wild collection of Western entertainment. Wild West TV will feature current and classic films, TV series, miniseries and documentaries, as well as exclusive premieres, unreleased titles and projects in development.

All told, according to the release, between movies and shows, Wild West TV will feature 800-plus hours of “heroic, tragic and romantic adventures set against America’s Western landscape.”

The Shout! release also says that the launch of Wild West TV is tied to celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of the classic miniseries Lonesome Dove, which features Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones, Diane Lane, Danny Glover and Anjelica Huston, and originally aired on CBS in February 1989.

Lonesome Dove will be offered on Wild West TV alongside its sequels, Return to Lonesome Dove, which first aired on CBS in November 1993 and stars Jon Voight, Reese Witherspoon, Ricky Schroder, Barbara Hershey and Louis Gossett Jr., and Streets of Laredo (1995), led by James Garner, Sissy Spacek, George Carlin and Randy Quaid. The channel will also feature the 1996 Lonesome Dove prequel, Dead Man’s Walk, which stars Edward James Olmos, Harry Dean Stanton, David Arquette, Tim Blake Nelson and Jonny Lee Miller.

Along with the Lonesome Dove titles, Wild West TV’s initial offering of 16 television series will also include favorites like Bonanza (1959-73); The Californians (1957-59); The Texan (1958-60), starring Rory Calhoun; The Rebel (1959-61), led by Nick Adams as Johnny Yuma; and more.

Along with those, Wild West TV will also offer more than 150 Western movies, including the 1939 John Ford classic Stagecoach, 86 Gene Autry films, Kenny Rogers’ The Gambler TV movies, Willie Nelson’s Red Headed Stranger (1986) and Marlon Brando’s One-Eyed Jacks (1961), among others, as well as newer films, like Jane Got A Gun (2015), starring Natalie Portman and the 2023 feature Gunfight At Rio Bravo.

Those familiar with other Shout! TV channels know that they often feature programming stunts consisting of marathons, viewing events, celebrations, sweepstakes, giveaways and more. Shout! says that Wild West TV will continue in that tradition, delivering interactive features, special events, livestreams and themed programming blocks.
