Turner Classic Movies (TCM)’s 2024 Classic Film Festival, the 15th edition of the annual event, takes place at various venues in Hollywood Thursday, April 18-Sunday, April 21, 2024.

Kicking off the festival on April 18 will be a 35mm screening of cowriter/director Quentin Tarantino‘s classic, Best Picture Oscar-nominated 1994 neo-noir Pulp Fiction, with its star — two-time Oscar nominee, and Golden Globe and Emmy winner John Travolta in attendance to help celebrate the film’s 30th anniversary.

It’s a fitting start to the weekend, since the overall theme for this year’s Classic Film Festival is “Most Wanted: Crime and Justice in Film,” while the festival is also celebrating the 30th anniversary of TCM’s launch on April 14, 1994.

Pulp Fiction is one of the most important and influential movies of the 1990s,” said Ben Mankiewicz, TCM primetime anchor and official host of the TCM Classic Film Festival.

“It was Quentin Tarantino’s magnum opus and the beginning of a well-deserved comeback for John Travolta. Like Bonnie and Clyde and The Godfather, it changed our thinking about the type of stories Hollywood could tell.”

Travolta, and costars Uma Thurman and Samuel L. Jackson, were all nominated for Academy Awards for their turns as Vincent Vega, Mia Wallace and Jules Winnfield in Pulp Fiction. The film earned Tarantino his first Oscar, for his screenplay cowritten with Roger Avary, as well as the Palme d’Or at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival. In 2013, Pulp Fiction was deemed “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” by the Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.

Rounding out the incredible cast of Pulp Fiction‘s ensemble are Amanda Plummer, Bruce Willis, Bronagh Gallagher, Burr Steers, Christopher Walken, Eric Stoltz, Frank Whaley, Harvey Keitel, Julia Sweeney, Paul Calderon, Phil LaMarr, Rosanna Arquette, Steve Buscemi, Tim Roth, and Ving Rhames.

In other happenings at this year’s festival, TCM had previously announced academic and author Jeanine Basinger as the recipient of the Robert Osborne Award, named after the beloved former TCM host, who passed away in 2017. This award recognizes an individual who has helped keep the cultural heritage of classic film alive for future generations. Basinger has chosen to introduce a screening of Westward the Women (1951) as part of this event.

Additionally, each year the Classic Film Festival pays tribute to a select group of individuals whose work in Hollywood has left a lasting impact on film.

This year, legendary leading man Billy Dee Williams will introduce his films Lady Sings the Blues (1972) and The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars & Motor Kings (1976).

Plus, Academy Award-winning makeup artist Lois Burwell will appear with her films Almost Famous (2000) and Lincoln (2012). Burwell and Williams will also sit down with a TCM host for a conversation in Club TCM located in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
