‘Taxi Driver’ Cast to Reunite at Upcoming Oscars
The Internet has been buzzing since the Oscar nominations were announced. With some huge snubs, particularly within the cast of the Barbie film, some fans are not exactly thrilled about the 96th Academy Awards. Even so, there will undoubtedly be some exciting moments including a reunion with the cast of Taxi Driver.
Back in 1976, a young Jodie Foster received her first nomination for her portrayal of a teenage prostitute in Taxi Driver. She starred in the film alongside Robert De Niro, with Martin Scorsese as the director. 47 years later, Foster has now received a nomination in the Best Supporting Actress category for the film Nyad. De Niro and Scorsese are nominated this year as well, for Killers of the Flower Moon, making it a reunion of the beloved stars. While Foster was one of the youngest stars to receive an Oscar nomination at 14 years old, she didn’t win. Perhaps this year, all of the stars will win in their respective categories.
After reuniting with De Niro and Scorsese at the Golden Globes, she opened up on Jimmy Kimmel Live! about how they were a bit nervous to film with her due to the sensitive subjects in the movie. She explained, “Which I understand because I was 12 and they had to say things like, ‘Can you pull his fly down?’ It was a little awkward … Scorsese particularly couldn’t stop giggling every time we talked, then De Niro had to take over.” She added that at that time, Foster had been acting since she was very young and had already been in more films than De Niro!
The Oscars are set to air on Sunday, March 10, at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on ABC. Will you be watching? Check out our list of the biggest Oscar snubs and see how many of these you remember:
